From the largest Island in Hawaii, this coffee was first planted in 1828 by Reverend Samuel Ruggles who brought a coffee seedling over from Brazil. In 1893 the government began leasing land to be used for coffee planting creating a booming coffee industry. Grown on the slopes of the Mauna Loa volcano off the Kona coast this coffee has a very rich, smooth and delicious taste with a slight acidity and full body. This coffee is roasted to a light level to accentuate its delicate qualities.
